The Rounds

The Rounds is a venture-backed neighborhood delivery startup founded in 2020 by Alexander Torrey that pioneered a zero-waste, refill-and-return model for household essentials. Rather than selling single-use products, The Rounds delivers cleaning supplies, pantry staples, and personal care items in reusable containers, picking up empties on the next delivery cycle.

The company raised $38 million in funding, including a $20M Series A led by Valor Siren Ventures in 2022, and expanded operations across multiple cities. The Rounds was recognized by Fast Company's 2023 Innovation by Design Awards and named to BuiltIn's Best Places to Work list, reflecting both its mission-driven culture and its ambition to fundamentally rethink consumer goods logistics.

I worked at the intersection of logistics, e-commerce, and sustainability, building the consumer-facing web and mobile experiences that powered the delivery model. During my tenure I led a major modernization of the frontend stack, transitioning from JavaScript to TypeScript and introducing comprehensive automated testing.
